West Coust Super Comp Race Club Results from Infineon Race 10 & 11

As the season winds down for the West Coast Super Comp Racing Club 12 members entered the gates of Infineon for race numbers 10 and 11. When this weekend is finished there would be only one race remaining.  For the points leaders they would be trying to solidify themselves as front runners while the back of the pack looked to have strong outings and move forward in the standings. There was One race remaining.

After a seemingly normal round one of qualifying members that had earned a spot in the Korbel Shoot Out paired up and ran at the end of the 2nd qualifier. That is when events started to unravel. When 5 of 6 Super Comp racers went red in the left lane they knew something wasn’t right and not just red but really red with strange incremental times all the way down the track. That is when Infineon recognized in fact there was a problem.  Track officials checked and then admitted a difference in the “roll outs” from lane to lane. This sent the West Coast Super Comp Board of Directors scurrying to resolve the issue in front of them. They had run the first round of the shoot out. Were the results fair? Was that racing? Or were the results tainted and warranted to be thrown out? The problem not only was with the shoot out results but also qualifying and qualifying bonus points. Board members acted and acted swiftly. The shoot out would be re-run and elapsed times would be recognized to fill the ladder but no bonus points would be awarded. Undoubtedly half of the field did not like the decision.
